Are You Living Under An Open Heaven?
Gregory Dickow
I don’t have a complicated message: I want to encourage people with the good news of God’s unconditional love—and to see that reality change their thinking and their emotions.
Are You Living Under An Open Heaven?

I think that we all want two things in life.

  1. We want to make it through another day successfully without going backwards
  2. We want to find God’s best and perfect will for our lives.

I believe that God gives us a path and He gives us a plan of how to have our needs met today — And to bring us into His perfect will. The same way you connect to God’s supply is the same way you connect to God’s perfect will for your life.

God created you and I to live under an Open Heaven. Where Divinity meets Humanity. This means that we have been given access to the God who supplies our every need and leads us into His Perfect Will. Here is the Good News. The Bible says we have a Savior that understands our weaknesses — we have a High Priest in Jesus Christ who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

2 Corinthians 4:8 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;” Then it goes on to say in 2 Corinthians 4:10 “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

We can have hope, because Jesus has been where you are and wants to take you to where He is. Do you know that there’s sometimes a battle between God’s will and our will? Where Divinity meets Humanity. Sometimes there’s a fight — do I want to do God’s will or do I want to do my own will? Do I want to do God’s thing or my own thing? And it’s perfectly human, normal and natural to recognize that we don’t always feel like doing God’s will. And it’s okay. You’re still saved. God still loves you. You’re not going to hell. But we need to recognize that we will either be ruled by our feelings or we will rule over our feelings. Jesus will show us how.

Open your Bibles with me to the Book of Mark, Chapter 14. I want to take you on Jesus’ journey as He gets ready to go to the cross.

Now, you have to understand something about Jesus. First of all, He knows what you’re going through right now. Can you say Amen to that? God knows what you’re going through. He knows what you’re up against. He knows you’re in a trial. He knows you’re in what the Bible calls a “midnight hour.” He knows the pressure you might feel right now.

Maybe you’re going through financial pressure, maybe you’re going through pressure in your home or in your marriage. Maybe you’re going through pressure with your business. Maybe you’re in a relationship that’s strained with a loved one, or a relative. God knows what you’re going through, and He provides a way out of every situation that you might be facing. And, in fact, what I realized is, life will sometimes beat you down to where you are either very weakened by the trials and the pressure that are on you, or you don’t know where you’re going to get God’s supply, or how you’re going to get your prayer answered or how you’re going to get the strength you need to go on another day, and to fulfill God’s will for your life.

It’s the same path to receive both Heaven’s supply and Heaven’s strength. I believe that every one of us needs God’s Heavens to open for us, and we need God’s strength to be poured out into our lives, and we need God’s supply to be poured out into our lives. We need Heaven’s supply and Heaven’s strength.

Here are the steps Jesus took in overcoming the pressure in His life: (see Mark 14:32-35)

1. He PRAYED (Mark 14:32)

Pray until you have a breakthrough, and what I mean is, you have an attitude of prayer, that you’re ready to pray until something happens, and even when you’re done asking God, you begin to thank God.

2. He chose wisely His ASSOCIATIONS (Mark 14:33)

There’s a reason why He took Peter, James and John, and there’s a reason why you need to select certain people to be in your life when you’re going through a tough time, and when the pressure is on. You need to surround yourself with the right people. People who will carry you and not judge you. People who will help you not harm you.

3. He went FORWARD a little (Mark 14:35)

It is important in life when you are going through struggles to keep going in the right direction. Even if you feel like giving up keep going in the right direction. Don’t stop doing the right things and eventually those right things will put you in the right place. God’s will is always being in the right place at the right time.

And when you pray like that, let me tell you what happens, and I’ll close with this verse. Luke 22:43 “And there appeared an angel unto Him from Heaven, strengthening Him.” And the same angels that strengthened Him will strengthen you when you’re pressed on every side.
